Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 2 cups  granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup cocoa powder
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ½ cup chopped chocolate or chocolate chips
  • Any chopped nuts

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×9-inch baking pan and set aside.
  • In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the butter in the microwave or on the stovetop. Allow it to cool slightly.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the melted butter and granulated sugar. Mix well until fully combined.
  • Add the vanilla extract and eggs to the mixture. Beat until the eggs are well incorporated.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, and salt.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Be careful not to overmix, as this can result in a tougher texture.
  • Fold in the chopped chocolate or chocolate chips.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it evenly.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the centre comes out with a few moist crumbs. Avoid overbaking to maintain a fudgy texture.
  • Allow the brownies to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  • Glaze with melted chocolate syrup
